Title of Position: Youth Guidance Specialist
Assuring that juveniles' daily needs are met. Provide direct care and supervision, paraprofessional guidance, and counseling by directing daily activities, maintaining order, helping juveniles develop and achieve personal goals. Inspect living quarters to ensure health and safety standards are met, control movement from living quarters for activities, and control behaviors.
Description of essential duties and responsibilities:

Supervises residents at all times, by keeping them in close proximity and in the visual and auditory distance at all times.

Supervises the chores of each resident and ensures that the group home is properly maintained.

Informs shift supervisor of any pertinent information of daily activities, health, and well-being of each resident.

Ensures that resident practices proper personal hygiene daily.

Ensures that residents maintain their schedule.

Develops a thorough understanding of all security and emergency procedures.

Participates in shift change and ensures that all pertinent information is documented and reported.

Follows all group home policies and procedures.

Performs housekeeping duties in defined areas and ensures that the facility is clean at all times.

Informs shift supervisor of any safety, security issues, and all maintenance problems.

Completes incident reports, medication logs, daily logs, resident shift notations, and all program documentation that is applicable.

Uses acquired knowledge to supervise and facilitate of recreation activities to achieve the desired outcome. Will become knowledgeable about recreational activities and how recreational activities are properly performed.

Dresses appropriately for the position.

Supports and promotes an environment for residents in need of substance abuse and co-occurring services that is recovery-focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of consumers who may have experienced trauma in their lives.

Attends scheduled staff meetings and training on a regular basis.

Assist with a weekly audit of residents' charts.

Ensure all visitors coming into the facility are approved to visit or transport a resident.

Responsible for maintaining strictest confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding resident information.

Performs other duties as directed.

Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with supervisor and peers; while effectively working within a team setting cohesively.
Supervisory relationships: Is under the direct supervision of assistant shift supervisor and shift supervisor.
Qualifications for position: Must be at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2 years of experience working in a residential setting; or a Bachelor’s Degree. Must pass all background checks.
Skills and knowledge required: The individual must have adequate visual and auditory skills to supervise residents, possess well-developed oral and written skills.
Must be able to work in a crisis situation, remain calm and be able to defuse the situation if situation arises.
Personal qualities: Individuals should have sufficient interpersonal skills to work closely with both peers and residents.
Amount of travel and other special conditions or requirements: Travel may be required in order to obtain job-relevant training.
Hours per week: Flexible 40 hours per week, Must be willing to work all shifts and on short notice. There are 3 shifts every day of the week, weekends included: 7am-3pm; 3pm-11pm; 11pm-7am
