Mechanical Engineer, High Voltage Battery Enclosures

Join our team as a High Voltage Battery Engineer within the Powertrain Systems Engineering team, where you'll play a crucial role in designing cutting-edge HV battery enclosures. You'll work across mechanical and high-voltage systems while integrating them into an innovative new vehicle architecture. Collaborating closely with powertrain engineers and HV battery suppliers, you’ll tackle complex system challenges, uncover root causes of failures, and develop effective mitigation strategies. In this role, you will:
  • Design and release mechanical and electrical concepts for HV battery enclosures at both the system and component levels
  • Perform package investigations for complete car integration
  • Evaluate HV battery supplier designs and subsystem components through simulation tools and engineering analysis, collaborating with both internal and external design teams
  • Support system integration, DFMEA, Functional Safety and Review and release requirements
  • Support HV battery component and system testing and accurately report the findings for making engineering decisions.


Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in HV battery
  • Technical expertise in HV battery systems and subsystems, including design, modeling, simulation, materials and chemistries    
  • Proficient in Catia 3DX or similar CAD software, with the ability to create and evaluate 2D drawings
  • Experience resolving design and quality issues using structured problem-solving processes


Bonus Qualifications
  • Familiarity with industry testing standards (SAE, MIL, UN, UL, GB/T, GTR)
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Polarion
  • Understanding concepts of EMI/C


Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $141,000 to $229,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.


Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
