Graphic Design Intern

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for providing support for the marketing department through a variety of channels, print, digital, web, video and other as assigned. The Graphic Design intern will report to the General Manager and will assist with the development and design of graphics, logos, collateral event materials and a variety of other creative tasks as 

assigned. The Graphic Design Intern will also be assigned various website updates utilizing Wordpress.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare images to coincide with social and blog posts.
  • Assist with website and social media.
  • Assist with collateral updates and version control.
  • Creation of various logos for products and events.
  • Creation and updates to various sales collateral Assist with video production (shooting, editing, etc.)
  • Assist in needs analysis for projects; in research for solutions for needs.
  • Fosters a sense of teamwork and collaboration within the department and property by demonstrating respect for others’ judgment and capabilities, and gives praise/recognition to those who earn it.
  • Ensures that guest needs are the first priority when approaching work assignments
  • Maintains confidentiality of verbal, written and electronic information. Limits access to information on a job-related, need-to-know basis.
  • Gain hands on practical experience to the full gamut of Graphic Designer roles and responsibilities.
  • Other projects as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be actively enrolled in a higher education program specific to Anvil NW such as graphic, web design, art, marketing/corporate identity, etc. 
  • Maintain a C or better grade point average
  • Reliable transportation to and from work locations
  • Minimum age of 18 years old 
  • Computer skills with experience using Microsoft Suite, Internet, Databases, Adobe Creative Suite


PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • Develop planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Increase knowledge of computer skills and technology.
  • Develop team-based work competencies.
  • Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with team members.
  • Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with day-to-day business contacts through follow up calls.
  • Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with external guest.


WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Work schedule will include meetings, classes, on the job training, and structured activities with your direct supervisor. 
  • Interns should expect to spend a minimum of 10-15 hours per week not to exceed 400 hours during the summer internship. 
  • On the job training will occur daily at the direction of the intern supervisor.
  • Schedule will be flexible based on student schedule and business need.

  • Submit transcripts demonstrating active enrollment and grade point average (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
  • Submit one letter of recommendation. The letter should be from a teacher, school administrator or another person who does not reside in your household. 
  • Submit a personal essay that includes information about yourself, the degree you’re working towards, and what you hope to learn or achieve through the internship experience.
