The C-40A Program is seeking an experienced Service Engineering Lead to join the Sustainment Team for our 737-700 Commercial Derivative Aircraft in Tukwila, Washington. The successful candidate will review incoming messages from the US Navy and coordinate technical responses with the responsible engineering group to resolve technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and/or final engineering solutions for the US Navy.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze reported problems for potential safety issues; recommends and manages resolution.
  • Identify Manufacturing and Supplier Quality escapements on in-service airplanes and notify Quality Assurance and various customers.
  • Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of the airframe, systems and support equipment.
  • Provide engineering authority release for logistics issues such as Service Actions and technical recommendations and coordinate issues from production with the fleet.
  • Lead projects to resolve complex program issues.
  • Leads research and develops engineering updates of very complex, highly visible technical in-service issues such as to determine safety implications, preparing analysis, recommendations and presentations regarding safety processes.
  • Develop and evaluates engineering solutions related to product support concerns.
  • Prepare plans and develops new processes, methods as well as service and support concepts integral to the design of each new and derivative product.
  • Research and analyze fleet data, participate on design/improvement teams to drive and implement improvements.
  • Lead communications and presentation material for dissemination to customers.
  • Complete all other duties and tasks assigned by management.
  • Work under minimal direction and mentor lower-level employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):   

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with strong oral and written communication skills
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • CFM56 -7B Engine and Honeywell 131-49 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) experience required
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Service Engineering and/or Field Service-related aircraft maintenance
  • Experience with 737 NG, Honeywell 131-49 Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) and CFM56-7B SAC, Tech Insertion, and Enhanced engines with knowledge of the following ATA Chapters 49 and 70 thru 80.
  • Experience with REDARS; researching parts, assemblies e.g., interchangeability, effectivity, technical drawing clarification, product revisions, accurate parts listing by researching engineering drawings, technical publications and other technical documents
  • Experience with aircraft-related systems, and familiarity with electronic drawing management systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Project
