Location: Bangalore - Manyata Tech Park (Hybrid)

The CIO for Technology team ensures that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customer and support our Group Strategy.

Impact & Contribution

Working in the Engineering Practice as the Practice Lead for CBA India, you will be the driver to raising the bar for our engineering community in India. The aim is to hire the best engineering talent, ensure that we have career pathways for existing engineers and create a culture where our engineers feel empowered.

Reporting Lines:

  • This role reports to the General Manager - CTO

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to ensure that Engineering Practice processes are understood and followed.  
  • Maintain the high standards already in place with processes such as hiring and promotions so that we continue to raise the bar in engineering in India
  • Contribute in the wider Engineering Practice team to continuously evolve processes to ensure that they are fit for purpose and consistent across all locations
  • Work with leaders of engineers to ensure that teams are supported with training inline with the engineering skills framework
  • Create an Engineering culture whereby our colleagues in India feel a part of the wider CBA engineering team

Essential Skills

  • 20+ years of industry experience in engineering and expertise in leading practice
  • Proven experience in a similar role within an engineering or technology environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering job profiles
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and raising standards.
  • Experience working with Agile ways of working, including tooling such as Jira & Confluence
  • Demonstrated risk & cost management mindset.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
