About the role
The Financial Counselor will be responsible for assisting patients and their families in understanding their insurance reimbursements, payment plans, and any aspects of the patient financial account. The Financial Counselor is customer-focused and has the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Answer patients’ billing questions succinctly and within an average of 24 hours.
Assist patients in understanding their benefits information.
Set up and track payment plans.
Ensure weekly, monthly, and quarterly department goals are met.
Represent Equip Health professionally and with a positive attitude.
Comply with all elements within HIPAA and the Privacy Act.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2 years of medical billing/insurance verification or financial counseling experience.
Strong billing knowledge.
Ability to maintain good work habits and be available during the working day for calls (depending on time zone).
Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent customer service skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven track record of being able to work independently and problem solve.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and innovation.
Microsoft Office and Google Suite experience.
Strong attention to detail.

Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
