About The Role

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated regional and global markets. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

You will be responsible for applying your experience managing large security services portfolios in the development high impact research into security services markets, and then leveraging that research to advise our Technology Product and Service Leader clients.

You will identify key opportunities for our services clients to differentiate services offers, compete against established and emerging players and grow services revenue. You will articulate strategies to exploit emerging market and competitive dynamics that can drive market share growth.  You will leverage available primary and secondary data sources and collaborate with peer analysts to deliver high impact, world-class insights and advice.

Your advice will be consistently delivered through published research, virtual and in-person presentations, 1:1 client inquiries and local briefings.

This Senior Director role will demonstrate strong experience managing security services and portfolios of services across a range of service segments:

  • Security Consulting – Typically services providing expert advice, strategy, auditing, compliance and policy development

  • Security Professional Services – Typically services providing technical testing, assessments, implementation, solution integration and onboarding

  • Managed Security Services – Typically services that are longer term and encompass the outsourcing of specific capabilities or processes with the goal of managing and delivering those functions more efficiently

Please note this is an individual contributor role and NOT a leadership role with direct reports.


What You Will Do

The following items are specific to the security services market:

  • Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged “must-have research” for global technology provider security services clients

  • Develop research that offers compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and accelerate the client's ability to drive security services revenue growth

  • Build in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of client performance barriers and reframe client thinking to drive their business strategy forward

  • Establish research positions that are adopted across a cohort of analysts

  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review

  • Become a trusted advisor to client leaders of services portfolios by providing a regular cadence of high-quality interactions via 1:1 client inquiry.

  • Build credibility as an security services industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy during meetings with services client Executive Teams.

  • Validate client strategies and accelerate client decision making by providing available data and use cases that de-risk their business decisions.

  • Create and deliver high value presentation materials for virtual and in-person Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings

  • Provide sales support for large and global technology service clients and prospects so Gartner is able to retain and grow seatholders and revenue.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Security Services field; Graduate degree preferred

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the security services market

  • Full lifecycle services management experience: building services strategy, launching new services, managing services evolution, services pricing and packaging, messaging and market collaboration, service delivery management, managing in- and end-of-life services activities.

  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions during 1:1 client engagements

  • The ability to produce high-quality written deliverables within scheduled deadlines

  • Comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Ability to synthesize data quickly and accurately from multiple sources

  • A track record of distilling complex concepts into concise advice, and successful at developing and defending research positions

  • Strong data visualization skills, preferably utilizing tools like PowerBI and Excel, or similar tools

  • Experience with (or able to quickly learn) with tools and data sources such as Pitchbook, CapIQ, TechCrunch, Bloomberg, and other forecast/financial data

  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills while applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions

  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

  • Adept at analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges

  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Must be familiar with the security services market as well as typical service offerings, best practices, commonly used technologies, and vendors for client engagements and for research and development.

  • Demonstrate willingness and foundation ability to mentor and coach others

  • Flexible thinker adept at change and experienced navigating highly matrixed environments

  • Ability to conduct occasional travel, regionally and globally
