HR Specialist/Lead for U.S. Retirement Plans

Job Description

Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM’s Warren Technical Center three times per week, at a minimum.

The Role:

As an HR Specialist/Lead for U.S. Retirement Plans in Global Total Rewards & Employee Relations you will be responsible for developing strategies, analyzing data, and assessing the effectiveness of our GM Savings Plans. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our retirement plans align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze Plan data and recommend strategic initiatives for financial wellness and retirement readiness.
  • Mentor, train and lead a team of analysts in presenting data in a clear and concise manner
  • Conduct strategic Plan benchmarking including AonHewitt Benefit Index, TAPF, and defined contribution (DC) studies.
  • Lead the relationship with third party administrators on benefit design, implementation, communication and on time delivery.
  • Ensure defined metrics are succeeding as identified.
  • Support the development of Plan language and recommend updates to existing Plan provisions.
  • Analyze proposed and current legislative and regulatory changes (PBGC, DOL, ERISA) and recommend Plan strategies accordingly.
  • Evaluate marketplace “best practices” and recommend new technology and/or tools to facilitate employee engagement in personal financial management.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for global financial wellbeing solutions as well as support the development of automation to improve efficiencies.
  • Review updates to Summary Plan Description(s) and modify based on Plan language modifications
  • Support internal and external Savings Plan audits.
  • Contribute to the development of training and communications materials.
  • Evaluate marketplace best practices and recommend new technology and/or tools to facilitate employee engagement in personal financial processes.

Additional Job Description

Your Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, business or similar field
  • 5+ years’ experience in U.S. retirement plans, specifically defined contribution plans
  • Must have at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently in an accurate manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills including advanced proficiency with Excel
