Job Summary:

The Adult Therapist provides therapeutic counseling and support to adult individuals facing a range of emotional, psychological, and life challenges. Through individual and group therapy sessions, the therapist fosters client growth, emotional regulation, and resilience while adhering to ethical standards and evidence-based practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual therapy sessions focused on addressing mental health concerns, life transitions, relationship issues, aging, and substance use
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's goals and needs
  • Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation, tracking client progress and therapeutic outcomes
  • Utilize brief therapy models (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation) and evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT, Interpersonal Therapy)
  • Provide crisis intervention and refer clients to appropriate community resources when necessary
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions as appropriate, teaching coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, support systems, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain compliance with privacy laws and confidentiality standards
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a behavioral health field such as Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology
  • Active and valid Arizona state license, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, including practicum/internship, working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapies, brief counseling techniques, and clinical documentation systems
