  • Design and optimize the structure of thermal solutions and overall platform designs, for Intel graphics cards and systems.
  • Utilize your knowledge to influence upstream, internal, and external teams to ensure from mechanical, thermal and electrical perspectives, the platform meets design requirements. This requires an understanding of 3D modelling software, manufacturing limitations, chassis retention fundamentals, and the ability to design mechanical experiments. These skills will be utilized to effectively generate heat sink designs and validate them with mechanical simulations or testing.
  • The ideal candidate would have familiarity with industry cosmetic requirements and be comfortable incorporating such requirements into the heat sink design.
  • This role will require proficiency in documenting your work and communicating with design partners.
  • You will work in collaboration with engineers from all competencies of the system engineering team (thermal, PCB layout, board design, power design, etc.), the program management team, and teams outside of system engineering (software, etc.) to ensure products are delivered to both technical and schedule requirements.
  • In addition, you may work with key OEM/ODM partners or customers in support of their designs.

Qualifications:

The Mechanical Design Engineer should possess the following behavioral traits:

  • Well organized, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Passionate about innovation and end to end ownership.
  • Comfort with change and change management, as well as team collaboration with sites worldwide.
  • Detail oriented and able to express technical ideas and initiatives clearly in writing or by presentation.

What we need to see (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years relevant experience or a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of experience designing mechanical solutions utilizing 3D modelling software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • 1+ years of experience with thermal mechanical testing/debug/analysis.

How to Stand out (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years relevant experience or a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering high performance thermal mechanical solutions for electronics applications (air cooled and/or liquid cooled), such as semiconductor, package, PCB and system design.
  • 2+ years of experience understanding the tradeoffs between mechanical, thermal and electrical criteria.
  • 2+ years of experience with mechanical part manufacturing processes and surface finish options.
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical fundamentals in the PC eco-system.
  • 1+ years of experience working with PCIe, OAM or other desktop or server form factors.
  • 1+ years of working with mechanical simulation software such as Abaqus or Ansys.
