About the Position

The purpose of this position is to oversee the administrative functions of Juvenile Department Specialty Courts.  This includes supervision of the Family Treatment Court Specialist positions.  This classification coordinates all the support functions of the Juvenile Specialty Courts and is responsible for program management, development, growth, and performs related work as required.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a field closely related to social work

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of professional level social work/casework experience

Other Requirements:

  • Must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona Driver's License

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior lead and/or supervisory experience. Experience and knowledge in supervision of case management, child welfare, substance use disorder, specialty court models, and/or juvenile delinquency.

Essential Job Tasks

  • Coordinates Family Treatment Court and other Juvenile Specialty Courts in their efforts to achieve program goals.  Assists in the departmental administration, divisional and operational planning and direction. Responds to public, management, and staff inquiries, resolving potential problems and addresses pertinent issues related to these Specialty Courts.

  • Reviews various administrative reports, studies, and recommendations, and evaluates the impact on the Juvenile Department Specialty Courts.

  • Develops policy and procedures in conjunction with supervisor and Specialty Court Judicial Officers.

  • Attends various administrative meetings to provide specialized expertise and serves as an informational source to the Judicial Bench, treatment providers, Juvenile Court staff and Department of Child Safety (DCS) on Specialty Court issues and processes.

  • Works with and under the guidance of the Specialty Court Judicial Officers in the implementation and enforcement of structure changes.

  • Develops, directs and/or prepares program documentation and informational materials.  Oversees the daily operations of programs and projects for Juvenile Specialty Courts.

  • Acts as a liaison between outside agencies, the Court system, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and other units within the Court to resolve problems.

  • Coordinates with behavioral and mental health treatment providers involved with the Specialty Courts.

  • Assists with short and long-term vision, mission, and sustainability of the Specialty Courts.

  • Completes performance planning and performance evaluations for Family Treatment Court staff and interns.

  • Prepares detailed flow charts, diagrams and programs from interview notes, procedural manuals and departmental records and reports findings.

  • Designs and conducts research projects and surveys, performs statistical analysis, evaluates results, and prepares management reports, summary reports, and other informational documents.

Working Conditions:

Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Telework is allowed based on business needs of the court. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County.  This position may be reassigned to other locations.  Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
