Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients. Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs procedures for physical hygiene and comfort of patients. Performs duties with the construct of a unit-based, self-directed patient care team while sharing various tasks with other licensed and non-licensed members.
In Special Care Nurseries, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting with the transport of healthy, uncompromised newborns from Labor and Delivery to the newborn admission nursery, cleaning equipment used on infants in the Special Care Nursery, and ordering patient care supplies from the storeroom and stocking the Special Care Nursery areas.
REQUIRED1. High School diploma or equivalent2. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)PREFERRED1. Listed on the Georgia Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant2. One (1) year of experience as a Patient Care Technician3. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
