We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to provide confidential executive-level support to the Superintendent in overseeing critical administrative operations at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (CCCF).

This position is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision.

About the Job – Your Role

In this role you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the legal, equitable, and objective delivery of specialized services, while also acting as a key liaison between departments, external agencies, and executive leadership.

As a key leader in the Administration, you will supervise a team of four staff members overseeing Mailroom operations and serving as the CCCF liaison to the Budget Office and Operations Division. You will also be responsible for directing media, public, and legal communications, providing union advice on contract administration matters, and conducting employee discipline and grievance investigations.

Additionally, this position is responsible for sorting and disseminating critical information and documents received from DOC Central Office, other agencies, and the public. You will regularly make decisions regarding staff direction, media communications, and community engagement, ensuring accurate and timely responses.

The decisions made in this role are a direct reflection of the Superintendent’s policies, direction, and management style, requiring sound judgment, discretion, and a deep understanding of executive priorities.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of staff-level experience providing administrative support to management. The experience must include technical or analytical duties in the management of program goals and objectives; performing program or project planning; preparing, monitoring, or controlling budgets; or performing research and providing analytical information and/or recommendations used in management decision making. Two (2) years of this experience must have been performed in a supervisory or lead worker capacity.

OR

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or a closely-related field and two (2) years of supervisory or lead worker experience.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a Minimum-Medium Security institution where the risk of physical injury exists during potential encounters with abusive, out-of-control AICs. Subject to recall during emergency situations and assignment to any area of the institution to provide necessary assistance in handling these situations. Position requires occasional travel in state vehicle to attend meetings and/or carry out agency business. May require overnight travel.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
