Pressed Roots is the first silk blow-out bar specializing in textured hair. Combining certified textured hair expertise, nurturing care for hair health and true luxury hospitality touches, we aim to break down the barriers that have held women of color back from feeling their best. As a Shift Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring a seamless and exceptional client experience while providing leadership and support to the studio team. This position requires strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to create a professional yet fun environment that upholds the highest standards of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently greet clients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, ensuring an elevated customer experience.
  • Supervise, train, and support employees in partnership with the Studio Manager and Training Department.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure all supplies and products are stocked appropriately.
  • Lead the Front Desk team, overseeing daily operations, scheduling, and customer service.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints, working closely with managers to resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Coach and report employee-related concerns to management, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Set the standard for professionalism and high performance, including:
    • Punctuality and attendance.
    • Meeting performance and productivity goals.
    • Maximizing revenue through service optimization and upselling.
  • Assist managers with daily operations and studio duties as needed.
  • Send a daily recap email to management summarizing key updates and any operational concerns.
  • Support new hires by allowing them to shadow you and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Contribute positively as part of a team, assisting with various tasks as needed, including but not limited to:
    • Helping stylists clean tools between appointments.
    • Sweeping and maintaining workstation cleanliness.
  • Training new front desk staff in collaboration with the Studio Manager.
  • Maintain the studio’s appearance and cleanliness, including:
    • Cleaning blow dryer filters and trays.
    • Ensuring common areas are stocked with necessary supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.).
  • Uphold and model Pressed Roots Core Values, following all rules and policies detailed in the Pressed Roots Employee Handbook.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Front Desk Coordinator or 1+ years in a training, mentorship, or assistant manager role within a customer service-related industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in customer service, client relations, or a people-focused role.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including patience and professionalism when handling difficult client scenarios.
  • Positive attitude and high energy, with a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and team-oriented work environment.
  • Reliability and accountability, with a strong work ethic and consistent professionalism.
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain salon standards.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Email) and competency in learning and using booking systems/software.
  • Commitment to cleanliness and salon upkeep, including sweeping, laundry, dishwashing, and ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.).
  • Ability to meet productivity standards and contribute positively to workplace culture.
  • Knowledge of TDLR safety and cleanliness standards is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 9 hours) while performing job duties.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including operating scheduling software and engaging with clients.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds, such as salon supplies and inventory.
  • Ability to reach overhead to complete cleaning and organizational tasks.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as needed to assist customers and maintain studio cleanliness.
