JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Extension is seeking a Master Gardener Coordinator in Bucks County to oversee the general function and activities of the volunteer program. The coordinator works under the supervision of the Area Coordinator and State Master Gardener Coordinator.
Specific Duties:
Serve as the main communication link between the county Extension office and the county volunteers. Communicate information from the state Master Gardener Coordinator's office to all volunteers.
Become familiar with information and resources listed in the Penn State Extension Master Gardener Coordinator's Manual. Provide the information to volunteers when applicable.
Oversee Master Gardener volunteer projects either directly or by communicating with committee chairs. Approve/disapprove proposed activities based on their educational purpose, the current volunteer manpower available for new projects, and liability. Assist with purchasing needs and processes, website, and social media oversight.
Work to recruit, select, and train new Master Gardener volunteers.
Oversee the county volunteer portal used for recording hours and continuing education. Provide volunteer recognition.
Be responsible for evaluating and reporting Master Gardener outreach activities; complete the annual report due to Penn State University in October of each year.
Assure that all volunteers comply with the Master Gardener Policy Statement.
Assign requests for Master Gardener assistance to individual volunteers or committees.
Answer inquiries about the Master Gardener program and serve as spokesperson when needed. Be available consistently at the Extension office for volunteer support and guidance.
Chair (or advise) the county Master Gardener Program Advisory Committee, if applicable.
Coordinate business/program development meetings for all county Master Gardener volunteers.
Organize continuing education opportunities for Master Gardener volunteers.
Present Master Gardener requests for funding (project materials, travel, registration fees, educational resources, etc.) to the Business Operations Manager for approval.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
Education and Experience:
Minimum requirements for this position include a bachelor's degree.
This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$42,100.00 - $61,000.00Salary Structure - additional information on Penn State's job and salary structure.
