Systems Engineer I- Platform Infrastructure KRK

 

Why We Have This Role

As an engineer working on the Platform Infrastructure team, you will work closely with engineers in multiple disciplines across the company, as well as security, compliance, and operations. You will be heavily involved in the design and implementation of infrastructure and tooling that enables every engineer at Qualtrics. You will be responsible for ensuring that our high-throughput services are able to scale to the demands of the company. You will be responsible for upholding operational excellence, making sure our critical infrastructure is running smoothly and efficiently.

 

How You’ll Find Success

  • Knowledge in Linux systems and experience in working with a variety of open source tooling/technologies.
  • Establishing productive working relationships with other platform teams, AWS counterparts, security, and compliance teams
  • Designing with an eye towards scalability, both in technical measures and organizational processes
  • Possessing a customer-obsessed attitude when working with application teams within the company

You will be expected to gain a deep understanding of how applications are run at Qualtrics, ushering the company into the new world of Kubernetes/EKS, and modernizing how applications perform discovery and encryption using a service mesh

Things You’ll Do

  • Influence the way that engineers at Qualtrics running applications through best-in-class tooling, and services
  • You will create, deploy, and operate services that ensure our overall platform exceeds goals for availability, scalability, and performance
  • You will help define how Qualtrics engineers operate containerized workloads
  • Participate in periodic on-call responsibilities as part of a global team

 

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn
  • Strong algorithms, data structures and coding background
  • Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
  • Experience with professional software engineering practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documents)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field of studies
  • Programming experience in at least one languages such as: Python, Go or Java
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues, navigate through unfamiliar code, and quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong experience with the Linux operating system and its administration
  • Understanding of containerization and container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and collaborate effectively across various teams

Nice to Have:

  • Good understanding of web technologies & protocols e.g. TCP/IP and HTTP
  • Experience in high-level languages like Go and scripting languages like Bash
  • Experience with Service Mesh and Service Discovery technologies like DNS, Consul, Cilium, Envoy, etc.
