Salary Range: $128,942 to $161,179 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits and vacation approval)

Who we are: Water and Wastewater Engineering Services (WWES) Engineering delivers the construction projects for the watermains, sewers, pumping stations, reservoirs, elevated tanks and treatment plants that supports growth as well as the repair and replacement of aging infrastructure. We also support new subdivisions connecting into our existing network of pipes. In addition to the capital focused teams, our Automation and Data Solutions team supports the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) network for capital projects and operations.

What you will do in this role: The OT Networks and Security Expert leads the development and execution of strategic operational technology (OT) risk management and security programs for industrial control system networks and servers. This role focuses on designing and implementing strategies, standards, policies, and architectures to mitigate OT risks, ensure system resilience, support business continuity, uphold regulatory compliance, and manage identity and vulnerability.
Collaborate with Automation and Data Solutions (ADS), IT, engineering, and other business units to develop and implement OT security frameworks.
Design, implement, and maintain highly available, redundant, and secure industrial control systems (ICS) that align with corporate IT security policies.
Develop and integrate OT security architecture into Water and Wastewater infrastructure strategies to protect critical assets.
Enhance cybersecurity operations by leveraging AI/ML technologies to predict and mitigate cyber threats, process structured/unstructured data, and generate actionable insights using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
Maintain a centralized repository of security standards, policies, procedures, and user access management protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor industry trends, emerging threats, and vulnerabilities to assess risks and develop proactive security strategies.
Oversee OT security functions, including risk assessments, identity management, incident detection, response, remediation, and compliance tracking.
Develop and maintain SCADA and OT security documentation, including security policies, configurations, and operational procedures.
Ensure regulatory compliance with privacy legislation, PCI compliance, and data retention mandates.
Audit production OT systems for adherence to security policies and recommend remediation actions.
Lead OT threat response initiatives, ensuring robust prevention, detection, and recovery strategies against cyberattacks, intrusions, and data breaches.
Develop, test, and refine SCADA-related disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
Provide cybersecurity training, risk management guidance, and security awareness initiatives to stakeholders, management, and end users.
Represent the ADS team in external cybersecurity collaborations, fostering knowledge exchange with industry peers and regulatory bodies.
Prepare and deliver security reports, risk assessments, and briefing notes for leadership and Council meetings.
What the role requires:
Expertise in OT security, ICS, and SCADA systems, including securing industrial environments and mitigating cyber threats.
Expertise in OT security operations, including risk management, penetration testing, incident response, and compliance auditing.
Knowledge of security frameworks and technologies, including firewalls, managed switches, VLANs, intrusion detection, zero trust, SIEM, and virtualization.
Strong experience with cybersecurity best practices, including business continuity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in AI/ML-driven security solutions for threat analysis and predictive risk management.
Skilled in security assessments, audits, and penetration testing to ensure system integrity and policy compliance.
Ability to analyze network traffic for indicators of compromise (IOCs) and attacker behavior patterns.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges.
Knowledge of IT/OT service delivery best practices, including SDLC, PMBOK, COBIT, and ITIL.
Effective communicator with the ability to train staff and advise stakeholders on security best practices.
Hands-on experience in managing security services, including access controls, data protection, and intrusion defense.

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
