Director of Product

About your Team

The Learning team owns activating, engaging and monetizing the cross-platform experiences for our creator-educators and their students.

Your leadership will empower the Learning Product Managers to build state-of-the-art tools and resources for our subscribers to craft high-quality, impactful learning experiences.

In partnership with our Engineering and Design leaders, you will be responsible for the features, monetization strategy and core functionality in our platform. This encompasses everything from managing knowledge content (online courses), student enrollment, customer management, assignments / quizzes, interaction capabilities, pricing/packaging, interoperability and more.

What is the role?

We seek an experienced Director of Product to help us direct and execute our Learning strategy. You will lead a team of 2 Product Managers, with potential to staff in alignment with business and customer needs, while collaborating with members of the design and technical leadership team and other cross-functional leaders to plan, execute, and iterate on our product roadmap. We're looking for someone who is highly experienced, pragmatic, biased for action and strives to empower and unblock their teams.

We’re doubling down on what our creators love, our foundational offerings of our Learning products. We want to ensure Teachable’s subscription-based revenue grows alongside our creators’ businesses. We give our creators the tools to build the best student experiences, thus outcomes. When our creators win, we win.

You will oversee up to five pods spanning customer-facing feature development that will drive our subscriber monetization, supporting your engineering leads and managers and ensuring the successful execution of their initiatives and operations.

On the strategic level you will be responsible for developing the overall strategy, direction and roadmap for our Learning capabilities in collaboration with your engineering, design, and other internal departments. You will also be expected to continue building your team’s capabilities as your area of the business grows by hiring the right people and structuring the teams to be as effective as possible.

You will lead and foster a high-performing, cross-functional team that owns the end-to-end creator lifecycle - from onboarding new users, enabling high-quality learning experiences, to scaling business operations.

This role involves collaboration with teams in the U.S. and Brazil, reporting to Teachable’s Head of Product, and follows a hybrid work model based in our NYC office.

In this role you'll:

  • Own the product strategic leadership of the core capabilities of our platform, enabling creators to rapidly grow their business.
  • Drive our packaging and pricing strategy of our core product offerings.
  • Continuously communicate and evangelize product strategy to provide vision, inspiration and motivation to employees and stakeholders within the product group.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product leadership to implement and lead efficient and iterative SDLC (software development lifecycle), quarterly planning and release processes.
  • Lead the execution of our product roadmap, ensuring that vision and strategy become tangible outcomes.
  • Develop a strong Product organization by recruiting, mentoring, training and coaching team members.
  • Work with Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Customer Operations, Legal, Finance and Leadership members to ensure both strategic alignment and tactical progress towards our product goals.
  • Connect regularly with Product leaders throughout Hotmart Co. to ensure alignment and integration across our parent company’s portfolio of product offerings.

What you'll bring:

  • At least 6-8 years of relevant work experience in a high-growth tech startup or growth-stage technology company, including at least 2 years as a people manager
  • Domain expertise in SaaS products in pricing/packaging and subscription products
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing product teams, with experience in recruiting, mentoring, and fostering professional growth.
  • A demonstrated ability to create a compelling product strategy and vision, and successfully deliver meaningful outcomes for customers and the business.
  • A bias towards action, prioritizing testing, learning, and continuous innovation.
  • A data-driven mindset, with a deep understanding of business metrics and quantitative goal-setting and its impact on prioritization.
  • Ruthless prioritization and cross-team alignment. You can balance technical feasibility concerns along with user experience and business goals, weighing quick wins with long-term investments appropriately.
  • You’re someone who is empathetic with customer needs and ensures the output of our technology team addresses them.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and can explain and synthesize complexity with ease.
  • A strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate roadblocks and tackle complex challenges proactively.

Nice to have:

  • Experience collaborating with diverse, multi-national teams and managing multiple stakeholders across global organizations.
  • The ability to speak Portuguese is a plus!
