Job Description

Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Neurology Clinic. As the Outpatient Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will leverage knowledge of neurological conditions to care for adult patients in the outpatient setting. Specifically, your focus will largely include memory and general neurology conditions, among others.

The University of Chicago Medicine Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders, also known as the Memory Center, provides specialized, compassionate care for the most challenging memory problems.

Our highly trained team of neurologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, social workers and nurses evaluates each patient to develop an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan. We provide primary care services and second opinions for patients with memory problems.

Nurse Practitioner Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner is an advance practice nurse responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. The Nurse Practitioner manages a caseload of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice also includes family support, teaching, staff education, consultation, and research.

 

Nurse Practitioner - Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Licensed Registered nurse in the state of Illinois
  • Current APN license Nurse Practitioner degree or equivalent experience required
  • ACLS and ENLS certifications required within 6 months of hire
  • Neurology experience highly preferred

Physician Assistant Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant is qualified by academic and clinical education to provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, clinical nursing specialist support and administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership. The PA has acquired the knowledge, skills and judgment necessary to assist the physician through organized instruction and supervised practice. This licensed health professional will take patient histories, conduct examinations, diagnose illnesses, pre- and post-operative patient evaluation, order and interpret laboratory tests and assist during complicated operations. The PA exercises autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

 

  Physician Assistant - Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited (physician assistant) educational program required.
  • Licensure: Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for:  State of Illinois licensure / registration required
  • ENLS and ALCS Certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Neurology experience highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
