Senior Business Systems Analyst

Job Description

Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Senior Business Systems Analyst. This position will be onsite with some opportunities for remote work. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.      

 

Under general supervision, formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable clinical business systems and industry requirements.  Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment, medical device capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.  Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Guides and advises less-experienced Business System Analysts.  Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future clinical environment. 

  

Essential Job Functions  

  • Elicit, analyze, and document complex clinical and business requirements  
  • Devises plan and procedures to solve complex business problems given constraints 
  • Revising existing (problematic) system logic 
  • Evaluate most business implications of technology on the current business environment 
  • Mentors less experienced Business System Analysts 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business management or information systems  
  • Minimal of four (4) years’ experience with information system software solutions 
  • Strong understanding of clinical processes and workflow 
  • Proven skills in troubleshooting, problem solving, and solution development
  • Experience with multiple clinical software applications, systems analysis/design, Integration/design, clinical workflow/design, and business process/design
  • Develop system diagrams, data flow diagrams, and other visual representations to communicate system designs and functionalities 
  • Solid skills in documenting and analyzing business processes
  • Solid understanding of underlying technologies: networking, medical devices, integration, EMR, server (on-premises and cloud), database, and storage
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced environment 
  • Capable of working well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams 
  • Must have issue tracking and resolution skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills
  • Experience developing presentations for project work    
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with internal and external participants
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations

Compensation & Benefits Overview

 

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.  The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

 

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
