Cloud Engineer

Trilogy Federal provides financial management, information technology (IT) consulting, program management services, and strategic consulting to federal agencies. Trilogy Federal is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ideal candidate will be a skilled technical professional with expertise in cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, or system architecture, thriving in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This role requires a collaborative, solution-oriented individual to join our team, designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud solutions to modernize VA corporate IT systems, including legacy applications and DevSecOps-driven initiatives. 


The selected Cloud Engineer must hold at least one of the following active certifications: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS DevOps Engineer (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or PEGA Certified System Architect (PCSA). This position will leverage cloud platforms and technologies to enhance system availability, support Agile delivery, and ensure compliance with VA’s Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP) Lean-Agile framework and security standards.

 

Please note this position is contingent upon award (Q2/Q3 2025), and may require occasional customer site visits in D.C.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and applications on AWS, Azure, or PEGA platforms, supporting VA corporate IT systems’ scalability, reliability, and performance. 
  • Implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, integrating cloud solutions with Agile development workflows. 
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters, DevOps Coaches, and Release Managers to ensure cloud environments align with sprint goals, release schedules, and VA stakeholder requirements. 
  • Optimize cloud architecture for legacy system sustainment and modern DevSecOps initiatives, leveraging technologies such as AWS EC2, Azure Virtual Machines, or PEGA Cloud to meet VA OIT objectives. 
  • Ensure compliance with VA security and privacy standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST, FIPS 140-2), implementing encryption, access controls, and monitoring solutions in cloud environments. 
  • Support the migration of VA applications to cloud platforms, providing technical expertise in architecture design, deployment strategies, and post-migration optimization. 
  • Utilize VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow) to document cloud configurations, track changes, and contribute to Biweekly Status Reports on infrastructure status and improvements. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high availability for VA corporate services and end-users. 
  • Integrate emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) or containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), into cloud solutions to support VA’s modernization goals. 
  • Work with VA stakeholders, including the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), to translate business needs into technical cloud requirements and deliver exceptional customer outcomes. 
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on cloud best practices, contributing to Trilogy’s staff development and company growth initiatives. 
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives) to align cloud engineering efforts with team deliverables and the VIP Lean-Agile framework. 


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • One of the following certifications required: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS DevOps Engineer (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or PEGA Certified System Architect (PCSA)
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or system architecture, with a focus on federal or VA IT environments. 
  • Proven expertise in designing and managing cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or PEGA platforms, including hands-on experience with IaC (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates), CI/CD tools, and containerization. 
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize cloud performance, security, and cost-efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. 
  • Familiarity with VA security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST, HIPAA) and the VIP Lean-Agile framework is highly desirable. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) and VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow). 
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technical requirements and travel occasionally to VA sites in Washington, D.C., as needed. 
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

$90,000 - $105,000 a year
This range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as Trilogy Federal conducts an individual equity review for every candidate based on experience, location, education, industry experience, and comparisons to internal pay bands. In addition to salary, Trilogy offers robust benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance coverage, 401(k) match, paid holidays, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a very supportive work/life balance.
