The Team: 

Upstart’s Servicing Analytics  team plays a critical role of providing analytical capability for Upstart's servicing functions to enable data-driven decision making. We leverage our analytical and technical skills to support our partners with a multitude of services.. 

As the Staff Data Analyst on the Servicing Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in influencing Upstart’s success. Partnering closely with our Servicing product management, Operations, engineering, and ML  teams, you’ll work directly with key stakeholders, helping drive understanding, insights, decision-making, and data infrastructure relating to the development, optimization, and enhancement of our recoveries and collections strategy. You’ll contribute to key areas such as identifying areas of opportunity via business reviews with leaders and product experiments, and driving operational efficiency. This role involves conducting in-depth analyses, building business intelligence pipelines, designing A/B tests, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impacts. 

How you’ll make an impact

Lead the development of analytical capabilities to support servicing initiatives and drive efficiency improvements.Create regular executive level presentations to communicate findings and strategic recommendationsDesign experiments and conduct quantitative analysis to test hypotheses about our users and the way they interact with our servicing initiatives, and collaborate with partners to prioritize the right problems and opportunities.Collaborate with analytics engineering and software engineering to continuously up-level our servicing data capabilities, making new data available as the business expands, and accelerate time to insights.Develop and maintain business intelligence tools to support reporting and decision-making.Mentor junior team members while fostering a culture of excellence in data and analytics, positioning the team as a hub of expertise and innovation

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 8+ years work experience in increasingly senior analytical roles in technology and finance industry
  • Strong background  in credit, product, or operations analytics, with hands-on proficient in SQL, Python and/or R
  • Exceptional track record of deriving actionable insights from analysis and analytical storytelling
  • Experience working with large datasets, unstructured data, data modeling, and data pipelines using tools like Databricks, DBT, Looker, Snowflake, Redshift, Tableau, Mode
  • Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative fields, providing a solid grounding in analytical and problem-solving skills essential for success

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and quantitative background with experience in conducting and evaluating A/B tests, ideally in Financial and/or Operational related fields
  • Expertise in consumer lending, and knowledge of post origination servicing and/or operations
  • Skilled at crafting executive-ready narratives around complex business topics and successfully influence VP+ decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in deep partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple workstreams and priorities; experience influencing up and cross functionally to maximize positive impact to the organization
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members on technical subjects

Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote

Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package.  The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

In addition, Upstart provides employees with target bonuses, equity compensation, and generous benefits packages (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k).
