Sr. Systems Engineer, Virtualization - job 7 of 30

The Sr. Systems Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for applying skills and knowledge to perform specified support functions. As part of the team - will be responsible for supporting critical applications and ensure the stability of the applications by performing proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities, do root cause analysis and remediation. Knowledge of production support processes such as incident/change/problem management, call triaging, and escalation procedures.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: 

Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows 2012, 2016, 2019, and CORE servers and related SOE software packages
Windows Core administration, command line remote administration, scripting critical for large deployments and consistent configuration
ESXi, vSphere systems administration and support including vMotion, HA, DRS, vCenter Operations Manager, vCenter Service Manager, vCenter Configuration Manager, Site Recovery Manager
Microsoft Hyper-V systems administration at the hypervisor level as well as virtual server, high available configuration, mitigating troubleshooting services, rapid return to service in the event of an outage
Scripting, automation, and Self-Service related experience necessary
Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management)
Administration of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for software updates & patches deployment
Identify automation/innovation opportunities in BAU environment and create tools/scripts to automate and schedule routine administration tasks
Need some basic understanding of SDS, SAN, and NAS storage environment
Basic support of hard component platforms, (HPE C7000 & DELL CMC chassis enclosures)
Manage and support at least 2 of the following third-party monitoring and automation tools: Netcool, Splunk, BMC Patrol, Opnet, BMC Blade logic, BMC BAO. Ansible
BAU operational support of Wintel infrastructure with sound knowledge of ITIL v4 processes such as Incident, Change, Problem, and Release Management
Work with other Disciplines to develop Infrastructure Building Blocks based Reference Architectures and standards that can be offered as services to our customers
This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills
Candidates will possess interpersonal skills and have experience working in Medium to Large enterprise operational environments
Assist in change management processes
Improve the efficiency and help standardize current processes
Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets
Document and thoroughly understand the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of the outage, duration and recommendations or steps to resolve issues
Participate in Service Improvement Meetings after an application outage
Respond to general inquiries
Document the incident in the tracking tool
Vendor contact for routine, documented incidents as well as operational problems
Provide assistance as required in analyzing the trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements.


This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
