Water Resources Engineer

 

Are you an entrepreneurial spirit with a strong desire to grow? Weston & Sampson has an exciting opportunity for a Civil / Water Resources Engineer in one of our office locations to expand our Water Resources and Resiliency practice throughout the Southeast! You’ll engage with a team of like-minded professionals to support complex projects including dam and levee safety, innovative nature-based solutions, stormwater infrastructure design, flood mitigation practices, and coastal resiliency. 

 

 What you’ll do:

  • Develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications, for dam rehabilitations/removals, stream crossings, waterfront projects, and stormwater systems
  • Apply hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling software including HEC-RAS 1D/2D, Infoworks ICM, and PCSWMM to support projects including dam rehabilitations/removals, resiliency plans, and municipal watershed plans
  • Support watershed planning, MS4 program compliance, and water quality investigations
  • Assist with RFQ / RFP responses and interviews to help secure new work
  • Collaborate internally with resilience planners, environmental engineers, engagement specialists and other disciplines to deliver transformative projects that promote equity, health and wellness, and sustainability
  • Attend and present at conferences and represent the company publicly
  • Think like an owner: as an ESOP and company owner yourself, make informed decisions in the best interest of all WSE’s employee owners

 

What you'll bring: 

  • Bachelor’s in Agricultural/Biosystems, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (Required)
  • Master’s in Agricultural/Biosystems, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (Preferred)
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a related position (Preferred)
  • North Carolina PE (Required)
  • Operating knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS Pro (Required)
  • Strong writing skills related to scope development, technical approaches, emails, and reports
  • Relationships: State / local municipal clients and partner consulting firms
  • Ability to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple projects, on-time and on budget
  • Must be able to travel regionally as necessary for project meetings and site visits
