Zurich is currently seeking an experienced Construction Casualty Underwriter to join the West Region team in our San Francisco or Sacramento office. While this position will be based out of one of our offices, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week. This position will require up to 25-35% travel.Your relationship building and problem-solving expertise will help us drive positive impact with our customers, communities, and each other. Our team of experienced Construction Casualty specialists can help protect our customers with standard job site risks or emerging hazards, we work with to assess risk exposures and recommend Casualty coverages to help meet our customer’s specific needs.As a Construction Casualty Underwriter, you will handle new and renewal accounts across Auto, GL, and Worker’s Compensation. Additional LOB’s will include Excess, Property, and Inland Marine. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with our Preferred Distribution Partners within the West region. This is an exciting time to join Construction at Zurich!The Construction Casualty Underwriter is responsible for:• Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.• Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing• Using risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale• Market facing and production within the growing Construction division• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules• Working within broad limits and authority on complex assignmentsBasic Qualifications:• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND• Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business• Experience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree• Advanced knowledge and practice of line/s of business• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines• Ability to effectively assess risk• Ability to work in a team-based environment• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business• Strong presentation skillsAt Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
