Our History

Our roots trace back to 1866 when a team of Seventh-day Adventist medical pioneers established an innovative health care program in Battle Creek, Michigan utilizing the healing ministry of Christ for inspiration. At a time when many treatments were as harmful as the conditions they were attempting to cure, our founders believed that preventing disease was just as important as treating it. They believed that the best care involved not only healing the body but strengthening the mind and lifting the spirit.

AdventHealth was formally founded in 1973 as a part of this worldwide network to support and strengthen the Seventh-day Adventist healthcare organizations. Today, it is a national leader in quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Since our founding, we have treated every patient as a creation of God. These pioneers created a healing environment focused on providing extraordinary whole-person care. We continue the tradition of whole-person care by practicing and sharing CREATION Life, a faith-based, whole person philosophy that helps us fulfill God’s original plan for our lives – to live and be happy.

Nurse Residency Program

Our Nurse Residency Program is designed to help you make a smooth transition into the hospital and specialty unit of your choice. Along the way, you can count on us to provide the support, training, and mentorship you need to become the nurse you were meant to be.

What You’ll Experience:

• Initial training period of 9-22 weeks depending on clinical area.
• Monthly workshops through the first year to support professional development.
• Workshops include lectures, discussions, group activities, guest speakers, simulation and role play, and debriefings.
