Our commitment to our people is simple: to provide a place where you’re appreciated, respected, and can be your authentic self. In the past 12 months, we’ve run diversity in hiring training to recruit everyone on an equal playing field. 
 
Baxter aims to increase diverse representation in its pipeline by collaborating with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with solid engineering programs, Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs); and national organizations with diversity-focused recruitment fairs). We act on our promises. 

 Here are some of the things we’re doing:

  • The Baxter International Foundation commits $3 million in grants to national organizations that demonstrate a commitment toward advancing racial justice. Baxter’s ongoing 2:1 ACT Matching Gift program for these organizations increases our impact.  
  • The Baxter International Foundation commits $3.5 million to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to support U.S. students pursuing STEM degrees over three years from 2022-2025  
  • Baxter donates $150,000 to the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) to support women executives and minority entrepreneurs in the U.S. 

We Support Business Resource Groups Around the World 

Our Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are an important component of creating an inclusive and diverse culture and advancing our priorities as a company. Across the world, these employee-run affinity groups support the recruitment, retention, engagement, and development of diverse employees across Baxter and provide a forum for employees to enhance personal growth and multicultural understanding while strengthening relationships among employees, customers, and business and community partners.  

The purpose of our BRGs extends beyond supporting diversity efforts. They provide a platform for employees to enhance their personal growth and understanding of different cultures while building stronger relationships among colleagues, customers, and our business and community partners. These groups serve as a valuable resource for employees seeking mentorship, networking opportunities, and career advancement. 

We have established nine BRGs across various regions to ensure inclusivity and representation. We encourage all employees to actively participate in these groups, which include the Alliance for Baxter Women, Asian Leadership Network, BaxVET, Black Professional Alliance, Early Career Professionals, enABLES, HOLA, MultiCultural Network, and PRIDE. 

Individuals can make meaningful connections by engaging with our BRGs, broadening their horizons, and contributing to a more diverse and inclusive Baxter.

Corporate Social Responsibility 

We take Corporate Social Responsibility seriously. It’s not just a tick box; our mission is about helping people worldwide.  

Baxter is committed to addressing the environmental, social, and governance topics impacting our patients, employees, and the diverse communities we serve worldwide.  

Our 2030 Corporate Responsibility Commitment and Goals, launched in 2021, represent a framework to help create lasting environmental, social, and economic value across three critical pillars:  

Empower Our Patients, Protect Our Planet, and Champion Our People and Communities.  

Our most recent report demonstrates our achievements so far:  

  • Completed more than 160 energy conservation projects, helping avoid an estimated 10,600 metric tons CO2 e of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the year, in addition to completing three new on-site solar installations that are expected to reduce GHG emissions by approximately 1,400 metric tons CO2 e annually   
  • Achieved 16.4% year-over-year improvement in manufacturing process capability for prioritized products by reducing the rate of leaks for sterilized solutions and sets   
  • Made $51 million in philanthropic investments to benefit underserved communities through Baxter and the Baxter International Foundation  
  • Continued to advance ACT: Activating Change Today, our multidimensional effort to promote racial justice by investing in scholarships supporting students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, community engagement, healthcare equity programs, and the attraction and development of diverse talent.  
  • Conducted a new “materiality assessment” to help ensure that Baxter’s corporate responsibility focus areas continue to evolve with stakeholder priorities  
  • Announced plans to publish our first report aligned with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework in a stand-alone publication in 2023. 
  • Baxter was named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies by Newsweek. While this is a U.S.-based list, it reflects a commitment and passion that Baxter colleagues embrace worldwide. 
  • Earlier this year, FTSE Russell, a global provider of benchmarks, analytics, and data solutions, named Baxter to its FTSE4Good Index Series, highlighting companies demonstrating strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. We’ve been a part of the FTSE4Good Index Series every year since 2004. 

Baxter International Foundation and UNICEF Partner to Expand Access to Safe Water in Egypt

Clean, safe water is fundamental to life, yet water scarcity remains a critical issue in certain parts of the world.
