In addition to our internal efforts, we also consider the ways in which DEI at Invitae can make larger strides in the broader genetics industry. As a company whose mission is to bring genetics into mainstream medicine to impact billions, we also aim to advance health equity with our patients, products, and research. We are focused on decreasing cost and increasing access to those who have been historically excluded due to these factors. We also emphasize inclusivity and diversity in our research study populations. 

We are a multidisciplinary team carrying out a novel business model in a highly technical, regulated, and complex industry against a backdrop of rapid and ground-breaking technological advancement.

At Invitae, we’re trying to build an organization that can continuously innovate at scale, and we believe that goal will require us to work together in ways that are not typically the norm inside of most companies. 

Like most things in a rapidly growing company, culture at Invitae is a work in progress. We will continuously try things that will work, and we will certainly try and abandon some things that don’t.

We don’t claim to have all the answers, nor are we certain ‘how far is too far,’ but we do know this: great companies have strong cultures, and average companies have average cultures — we aspire to greatness.
