Great colleagues, poor management

Pros

The platform itself is recognized by many brands as best in class. You get to work with customers who really value the work you do in transforming their business. A lot of the colleagues you get to work with are hard working, passionate and experts in their field. You learn a lot.

Cons

All of the cons I could list would simply be symptoms of the root cause which is poor middle and senior management. From the top, there is no clear strategy and priorities changes from one day to the next. People managers clearly don't push back or challenge so the erratic decisions at exec level are felt by everyone. There are a number of individuals who are not cut out to be managers. Some may be nice people, sure. But they lack basic skills such as communication, empathy, training, mentoring or any of the basics you'd expect from an average manager, let alone a good one. The most frustrating thing is that this is widely recognised by my peers so I believe other managers must see it too, but nothing is done about. Literally nothing, apart from maybe giving one of these managers a promotion!

At LivePerson, diversity, equity and inclusion aren’t just words. They’re actions. We’re committed to the daily work it takes to foster equity, inclusion and belonging. As a company, in the last three years we’ve embarked on the journey starting with creating an employee-driven culture that promotes connection and belonging. This year, we’ve taken another important step to formalize this work within three key pillars: Product, People, and Community. There’s much work to be done, and we’re invested in the journey.

As part of this process, we’re focused on fostering a space to belong through our Employee Resource Groups (ERG). These are collectives of LPers who identify within historically excluded communities, and allies. Together with support from the Global DE&I Council and LP leadership,  they design the programs and strategies that help to make LivePerson a great place to work.

Our ERGs include:

Live in Color

Our people embrace the diversity of the experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives we share. As a global team, we place a focus on fostering community for our people and one way we share and connect is through our employee resource groups.

Live in Color is LP’s first ERG, and is focused on diversity and inclusion to transform the way employees grow at LivePerson by giving them the resources to succeed, help them become experts, and create strong team players through fellowship and community.

Women in Tech

Bringing together LP women, non-binary people and allies with a mission to create more equality, equity and inclusion within LivePerson and beyond.

One of the ways they do this is through a Goal Crushing Program. The program is designed to grow and empower individuals.

LP Proud

LP Proud, LivePerson’s employee-led LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group, aims to create a safe community where our employees can learn, feel comfortable to be themselves, come out, and support one another.

We have a commitment as a company to be an inclusive safe place for all of our employees to show up as their authentic selves.

Ways we keep inclusion at the forefront:

DE&I speaker series

In partnership with the DE&I Council, our ERGs curate exceptional experiences for our employee base, all designed with inclusion in mind. From pushing through unconscious biases to empowering leaders in every seat, we create a space for continuous learning at all levels.

Mentorship & Development Programs

We believe in the potential of people, and consistently look for ways to develop our teams. We offer a variety of programs to help LPers make lasting connections, strengthen our leadership muscles, and that aim to ensure everyone has access to the people and experiences they need to build their career.

LivePerson’s Goal Crushing Program (GCP) certification sees members of our Women in Tech Employee Resource Group complete a six-month accelerated leadership and development program that focuses on specific strategies, mindsets and behaviors needed to advance in their leadership goals within LivePerson.

A Focus on Accessibility

We understand the responsibilities we have as disruptors in the B2B and consumer space. We invest in consultants who train and support our technical teams to ensure our products are accessible for our brand users and for consumers.

AI Native

AI Native is a program that provides every employee with the education and tools they need to intelligently discuss AI and machine learning, upskilling our entire workforce. LivePerson AI Natives are able to look at the world, both at work and at home, through an AI lens, and have a competitive advantage professionally. A critical element of the program is its focus on ethical AI and addressing bias in AI.

Equal AI

LivePerson is a proud founding member of EqualAI®, a nonprofit organization and movement focused on reducing unconscious bias in the development and use of artificial intelligence.
