Pros

Smack in the middle of the changing energy industry Enables evolution of energy production and delivery Not-for-profit with a common good mission - MISO keeps the lights on (literally) and delivers the least expensive energy - MISO is focused on that NOT profits Not too big, not too small Stable, not subject to economic turmoil Smart technically savvy people Embracing diversity and inclusion the right way; it's not virtual signalling

Cons

Takes longer to make decisions and will go slower - this makes sense - lots of stakeholders to consider such as federal and multiple states among other stakeholder. Not a growth company with stock options - MISO makes up for this in other ways. Low maturity processes Not sure if other companies reorg as much as MISO - seems like too many

MISO offers employees peace of mind and helps protect you and your family in case of the unexpected. Full-time employees qualify for:

  • No-cost basic life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance
  • Voluntary Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance plans for you and your spouse and children
  • Short-term disability coverage at 100 percent of employee’s salary for up to 90 days and long-term disability coverage at a percentage of employee’s salary, both of which are 100 percent employer paid

Employee Assistance Program

At MISO, we are dedicated to corporate citizenship and believe that our employees can work together to make a positive impact on our communities. That is why MISO is proud to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. MISO employees have donated over $1 million dollars and granted more than 300 wishes since 2007. Through fundraising and volunteering, MISO strives to make a difference in the lives of Wish kids and their families. 

 

MISO employees are also given paid community service hours each month to give back to the community in any way they choose.

Internships

The energy industry is rapidly changing. As the power grid changes, so does our approach to meeting energy demands. We need a diversified group of smart, motivated problem solvers to overcome these challenges. MISO’s internship program helps prepare students for future roles as leaders and innovators in the energy industry.

Our interns are presented with meaningful and challenging projects that will have a direct impact on the success of MISO. Interns gain exposure to all aspects of the company and leave with a better understanding of how MISO and the corporate world work together to deliver power to over 45 million customers. MISO’s geographic footprint stretches across 15 states and one Canadian province. This allows interns to work with a diverse group of employees across the nation.
