Pros

Camaraderie in the workplace, resulting in a good working environment.

Cons

The time available to complete projects is often unrealistic, but this is due to the high demand for network projects.

Inclusion and diversity at Nokia

Inclusiveness sits at the heart of Nokia’s value creation and is core to the way we do business, innovate and partner with our customers. We love and embrace the uniqueness of our people and want to make sure everyone feels safe and at home.

With 87,000 employees from 163 different nationalities working across over 120 countries, we are committed to inclusion and equal opportunities for everyone.

Nokia's employment decisions are made regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law.

Nokia has received the following recognitions for its commitment to inclusion & equality:

  • For the 7th time, we have been nominated as the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere
  • For the 5th time, we are listed as a gender inclusive company on the Gender-Equality Index by Bloomberg
  • For the 3rd time we were assigned the Ambassador status by Workplace Pride for our LGBT inclusion

At Nokia, we encourage people to

Be Open: appreciate and understand another’s point of view

Our culture is based on trust. It’s one where people feel safe, are met with empathy, and are listened to. We launched our allyship program in 2022 to empower all our employees to support inclusion.

Moreover, through the I&D Networks’ community, all inclusion & diversity practitioners across countries, business groups, and employee resource groups connect with each other on a common purpose, share best practices, and can grow.
Our culture values learning and we have competence development activities focusing on leadership, business critical and technical skills for current and future needs including a multitude of webinars on mental health and wellbeing. In 2022, we recorded a total of 3.1 million learning hours for our employees. .

Be Fearless: collaborate through conversation and involve people

We relentlessly work on the proactive removal of bias, challenging stereotypes, and discrimination. We exercise our societal impact together with our external alliances and partners such as #ChangeTheFace with Vodafone as well as various community and leadership projects with UN Women.

We commit to pay equity. To ensure that the unexplained pay gap which was first closed in 2019 stays closed, we conduct yearly review and consistently address decisions, practices, and processes which might cause the unexplained pay gap to reopen. We continue with measures that aim to avoid inheriting the former pay gap of new hires, and we ensure objectivity by using graduate offer matrices globally.

We run programs such as OUT Leaders to provide visibility to LGBT leaders.Since 2019, we shine light on our pioneering women on Ada Lovelace Day, recognizing their contributions to STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Be Empowered: respect diversity

We are turning the unique traits of people – seen and unseen – into a strength in teams to achieve better business results and sustained profitable growth.

Our employees are invited to join our 12 Employee Resource Groups on gender inclusion, LGBT , people with disabilities inclusion, inclusion of ethnically diverse people and improving mental health. Our SharetoCare resource group aims at making emotional support more accessible with insights on coping strategies and support options.
