Pros

As the title suggests, I've had the opportunity to work alongside amazing people from all walks of life. This has had a more personal impact than I initially expected, making me a more balanced individual. The intellectual capital at this company is amazing and if you're open to learning more along with pushing yourself, then you will grow and be rewarded. I've read most of the other reviews, focusing on the more critical, and recommend taking them with a wider viewpoint. As with any company that is attempting to do something non-traditional, there is an inherent risk associated with roles. There have been some layoffs that are life-altering for many people and the last thing anyone wants. Each one is heart-breaking. Culture amongst the company and cross-function is very upbeat and collaborative. I can count on one hand the negative experiences I've had over many years and with thousands of people. The company started as a little ship and now is much larger, yet ideas and impacts can still turn it, which is amazing.

Cons

I've yet to see a perfect company and don't believe there is such a thing. Not placing this as a con, but it is a fast-paced environment and that does require quick decisive pivots. This can create unease for those who are less comfortable with change and want to know what to expect every day, like clockwork. However, this does create excitement and allows new paths to be discovered uncovering areas you can impact as an individual.

About our team 

Founded in 2014, Opendoor’s mission is to empower everyone with the freedom to move. We believe the traditional real estate process is broken and our goal is simple: build a digital, end-to-end customer experience that makes buying and selling a home simple, certain and fast. Our engineering team is helping to redefine a $1.9 trillion dollar industry that hasn’t upgraded its technology in decades. And in just a few years, we’ve already turned the traditional real estate model on its head by helping over 100,000 customers buy and sell their home with just a few clicks -- and with a 80 NPS at that. But the work is far from over as we continue to grow in new markets. Real estate is broken. Come help us fix it. 

Meet a few of our leaders 

  • Rajalakshmi Subramanian, our CTO, came to Opendoor after co-founding Pro.com, a technology platform for home improvement. Prior to that, she was a pioneering member and leader of teams that helped develop Amazon’s online Marketplace and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Raji also led teams in Amazon’s Kindle group and at Yahoo Finance. About our team 

Our Sales and Support roles combine elements of customer service, relationship management, negotiation, consulting and operations. Our Customer Experience Partners are the main point of contact for our customers to support them through the entire home selling process while our Agent Experience Partners serve as the main point of contact for our partner agents as well as act as an agent of Opendoor.  Whether you are working directly with customers as they make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives or connecting with other agents to ensure the process is simple, certain and fast, this team is critical to the success and growth of our business. 

 

Meet a few of our leaders 

  • Megan Meyer Toolson, Chief Customer Officer, is responsible for our go-to-market efforts including marketing, sales and support, in-market operations, and market expansion.   • Shannon Hodges, Vice President of Sales and Support, leads Opendoor's acquisitions and resale growth focused on ensuring buyers and sellers select the moving solution that best meets their needs.
