Together We’re Committed: Our Enterprise Diversity Plan and Commitments

At TransUnion, we’re dedicated to cultivating a culture that’s inclusive, welcoming and rewarding for all. In 2019, we stated our commitments to reaching global gender parity by 2030 in our senior leadership, and achieving a year-over-year increase at all levels of management for underrepresented groups. Read more about the progress we made in 2021 in our Diversity Report, and our plans to keep advancing our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion goals and efforts. We won’t give up until everyone at TransUnion feels seen, heard and valued.

In pursuit of our goal to reach global gender parity in senior leadership by 2030, we launched a Gender Equity Steering Committee in 2019. This group is ensuring intentional action to advance women in leadership during opportunities like hiring, promotion and succession planning. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee was vigilant in understanding and addressing the new needs and challenges for women in the workplace.

To support the advancement of associates belonging to underrepresented groups, we’ve developed targeted programs and resources throughout all stages of the associate lifecycle, including how we hire, develop and reward our people. From day one, it’s our mission that all colleagues have the tools and skills to be successful here.

Together We’re Reaching Our Potential: How We Hire, Develop and Reward Our People

We’re committed to advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at every stage of the associate lifecycle — from recruiting and hiring to developing and rewarding the variety of individuals who contribute their unique talents every day. We’re dedicated to providing the support necessary for each associate to build the career of their choice while being compensated fairly for their work and contributions.

  • We require diverse candidate slates be presented for 100% of Director+ roles in the US.
  • We’re focused on ensuring women and underrepresented groups are represented in entry-level STEM roles.
  • In 2020, TransUnion added a dedicated Diversity Recruitment Advisor to the HR Talent Acquisition team.
  • We’re creating development plans for women and underrepresented groups at Director+ level and ensuring diverse representation at major TU-hosted events.
  • We’re creating more structure and governance to ensure promotion decisions are made consistently throughout the organization.
  • In 2020, TransUnion provided its Black leaders the opportunity to participate in McKinsey & Company’s Black Leadership Academy, a program dedicated to equipping Black leaders with the core leadership, management and functional capabilities to achieve their professional aspirations.
  • We leverage rigorous pay and promotion practices that protect from bias.
  • We continue to identify opportunities to add inclusive benefit offerings for our people across the globe. In 2020, we introduced domestic partner benefits in the Philippines. It’s our goal to ensure all associates and their families are fully cared for and supported.

Together We’re United: Our Response to Racial Justice Issues

“We will not tolerate racism; it has no place at TU.” These words from Chris Cartwright, President and CEO of TransUnion, reconfirmed TransUnion’s unrelenting commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace in the midst of ongoing racial justice issues in 2020. In pursuit of this pledge, we took swift action to listen, learn and support our people — particularly our Black associates as they shared first-hand stories and experiences.

  • In 2020, Chris Cartwright signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge — the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance Diversity, Equity & Inclusion within the workplace.
  • In 2020, we formed a special task force to put Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the forefront of everything we do — from the culture we create to the total impact we have on the consumers and communities we serve. The Racial Equity Task Force focuses on advancing fairness and racial justice inside and outside of TU.
  • In support of greater racial justice and equity, we launched a special matching gift program in the US — pledging to match donations to five organizations at the forefront of racial justice efforts.
  • In 2020, we invested in a new training program — Getting Comfortable Talking about Difference — for all managers around the globe.
  • Over a two-week period in 2020, global HR champions and D&I leaders hosted 10 virtual roundtable sessions focused on “Getting Real About Race.”
  • Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. In 2020, the day served as an important reminder that members of Black communities everywhere are still fighting for freedoms and equality. To honor this significant day, we gave all US associates a half day off — with the intent they take time to reflect and support each other.
  • We hosted a series of listening sessions with our Black associates, CEO and executive team members, as well as mental health support sessions with a psychologist.

Together We’re Resilient: Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

The pandemic hit hard globally, forcing everyone to pivot and adapt to fast-changing situations. During this unprecedented time of stress and hardship, we put our minds and hearts into overdrive to make sure our global workforce transitioned to working from home as seamlessly as possible, and that we were supporting all aspects of their well-being.

  • To show appreciation for all the hard work associates contributed, TransUnion offered two extra global “unwind” days off in 2020. US associates also received Election Day off on Nov. 3 and were encouraged to exercise their democratic right to vote.
  • Starting in April 2020, TransUnion offered free weekly credit reports to consumers and associates.
  • We organized learning sessions, community discussions, podcasts and intranet resources to provide working parents with tools for balancing family commitments.
  • As we adjusted to a new way of working, we offered managers virtual learning sessions on Managing Remotely, Owning Decisions and Leading with Purpose.
  • Year-end: We didn’t believe a numerical rating could accurately capture the extraordinary efforts and contributions our associates made in 2020. There was so much more to everyone’s story, and a number just wouldn’t tell it all. To that end, we removed year-end performance ratings for 2020. Our goal was to allow associates to fully focus on what was most important without any unnecessary stress as they continued to balance work and personal priorities.

We recognize there’s more work to be done, and we won’t stop until everyone who walks through our doors each day feels included — and all our people are seen for their authentic selves and celebrated for the contributions they make.

Life at TU

Over the last few months, TransUnion associates have had the opportunity to get to know each other virtually in a variety of new ways. We’ve brought each other into our homes and warmly welcomed family, children and pets as special guests to our meetings and calls. We’ve gotten to see talents of co-workers around the word — from singing to cooking, trivia to exercise — and we’ve enjoyed gaining new perspectives.

Despite most of our workforce being remote, we continue to stay connected and engaged. We’re always intent on ensuring associates and their families take time to enjoy the things that matter most to them. We know our people have countless commitments and responsibilities. We’re doing all we can to give them the freedom and flexibility they need to manage all aspects of their lives — comfortably, confidently and effectively. In every sense, we stand with and are here for our people — every step of the way.

Our culture is welcoming, energetic and innovative.

There’s an overall synergy that flows throughout the company, creating a sense of unity in knowing that we’re all working to achieve the same overall goal.

  • Genuinely enjoy and find interest and meaning in the work you do.
  • Work with great people, pioneering products and cutting-edge technology.
  • Collaborate across business units and global locations.
  • Hone current skills and build new capabilities, while uncovering your genius.
  • Enjoy a fulfilling work-life balance.
