Great Company with Great Peopl

7/20/2023 - Communications Intern at Austin, TX

Approves of CEO

Pros

The culture here is amazing. The people are friendly and you can tell they enjoy working for a company that actually helps people. Those coming from banks and traditional financial institutions seem to have had a weight of conscience lifted from their shoulders.

Cons

Because the culture is so strong, it's hard to get by if you try not to immerse yourself in the company milieu. Make an effort to go to events, meet people, etc.
We Focus on People Not Profits
A Member-Owned, Not-for-Profit Cooperative

At UFCU, we are passionate about changing lives and strengthening communities. We offer a variety of products, services, and education programs to empower Members in achieving financial health. We credit our beliefs in fair and honest products and outstanding Member service in making us Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution, also serving Galveston County.

Why Choose a Credit Union?
The credit union motto is “Not for profit, not for charity, but for service,” and you’ll find it reflected every day at UFCU. Credit unions are unique in the financial world because we share the following special qualities:

* Owned and directed by their Members, not corporate stakeholders
* Regulated by federal and state law
* Backed by National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) fund insurance
* Led by Member-elected, volunteer boards of directors

A credit union is more than just a financial institution — it’s a partnership designed to offer you a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates. You have an equal vote in electing our leaders, and you benefit equally from the success of our business.

Credit unions have more than 100 years of history in the US, and in 2019 more than 5,300 federally insured credit unions nationwide served more than 117.3 million Members.

Community Is Key

Because we’re an organization committed to our community, we’re proud to support our employees in their efforts to be of service. We encourage our employees to volunteer up to 32 hours per year during the work day, and get paid for it. Our DO GOOD program is all about bringing employees together with a purpose to make an impact, and we have a great time while we're at it. Employees can choose to volunteer for group or solo activities when it works best with their team's schedules. And, for our employees who prefer to give with their checkbooks, we’ll match their charitable contribution to any 501(c)(3) organization. When our community is strong, we are strong.

- Submit your application. As part of the process, we’ll ask you to submit your resume and a cover letter too, so get those polished and ready.

- The hiring manager will review your resume and determine whether we should explore our relationship further.

- Changing careers? Consider a functional or hybrid resume to help us see how you are a good fit for the position.
