Trade Marketing at AbbVie has evolved significantly from an operational and tactic-focused responsibility for select products to one requiring development of complex pharmacy and distribution strategies across our entire portfolio of products in both specialty and retail channels.
A key driver of this evolution are the changing needs of our stakeholders in the specialty pharmacy channel where AbbVie has a significant footprint of high-value brands including Botox, and treatments for Parkinson’s, as well as higher cost and payer managed medications typically processed through retail pharmacy in Migraine, Psychiatry, and Eye Care. These medications are used to treat complex, chronic conditions, and often require special storage, handling and administration, and typically involve a significant degree of coordination with Payers and HCPs, as well as a dedication to patient education, monitoring, and management.
The expectations of pharmacies in the healthcare ecosystem are quickly evolving as new technologies drive exponential change and transform the future. Many pharmacies are just beginning to embrace these technologies and customer service innovation as specialty pharmacies seek to reinvent themselves to meet the evolving needs of their patients. The Associate Director, Trade Strategy and Marketing – Neuroscience and Eye Care, will play an important role in partnering with key pharmacy and channel stakeholders to optimize the patient experience and grow our AbbVie business now and into the future. Patient needs are also evolving, as are their expectations of their experience at pharmacy. Whether it be a focus on convenience by experimenting with new, digital capabilities of their pharmacy, or seeking higher-touch clinical support models, these growing patient demands are putting pressure on manufactures such as AbbVie to define our future specialty and retail pharmacy value propositions and identify stakeholders in the channel to partner with to navigate this complex environment.
The Associate Director, Trade Strategy and Marketing – Neuroscience and Eye Care is responsible for leading the identification and assessment of business opportunities in the fast-evolving specialty pharmacy and distribution channel and developing and implementing initiatives to partner with pharmacy and wholesaler stakeholders in support of patient onboarding and adherence to AbbVie products. This role will support a combination of specialty and retail products across the portfolio and requires a strong understanding of pharmacy and distribution channels and their complexities and challenges, coupled with a strategic mind and an eye towards innovation.
