Position Title: Academic Success Center: Academic Success Coach

Responsibilities:


The Academic Success Coach in the Louisiana Educate Program plays a crucial role in the development of our undergraduate student population. Through a private-public partnership, the Louisiana Educate Program is able to offer a holistic, proactive approach to student success. The Academic Success Coach position will work closely with the students who are part of the Louisiana Educate Program as they progress towards degree attainment.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet individually with 30-50 students from low-income, mostly first-generation, mostly minority/underserved and underrepresented students in the Louisiana Educate Program cohorts on a weekly basis to develop individualized success plans, counsel, and to challenge and support them as they navigate college life at the institution.
  • Assist students with academic degree planning, progress toward graduation, course selection, schedule changes, and other academic advising matters.
  • Develop supportive, proactive mentoring relationships for low-income, mostly first-generation student population and serve as the main point of contact with each student who is a member of the cohort.
  • Monitor the success and progress of each student while working in the LEP Center, with the cohorts, and providing the pertinent student services as needed.
  • Maintain connections and referrals with faculty and staff across campus especially, but not limited to the Office of First Year Experience, Academic Success Center, Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Student Financial Aid, Office of Scholarships, Residential Life, Special Services, and other offices as needed.
  • Coordinate and execute student programming related to student success for members of the cohort.
  • Assist in the planning, expansion, implementation, and evaluation of the Academic Success Coach program.
  • Serve on committees related to the Louisiana Educate Program and Student Success.
  • Position will require night and weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university.
  • 2 years experience in higher education or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with first-generation, low-income, underserved college student populations.
  • Academic advising experience.
  • Experience/knowledge of financial aid (LOFSA TOPS, Pell Grant, Go Grant, etc.).
  • Program/project development experience.
  • College student co-curricular experience or related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diverse populations.
