The Opportunity…

Be a part of a firm where trusted advice improves lives. As an Accountant at Segal, you will be reporting to the Director, Finance and Financial Systems within the Financial Services department. You will be responsible for analyzing and preparing financial documentation, monthly expense allocations and recording journal entries. In addition, you will be reconciling accrual and cash basis general ledgers and providing accounting support to the Financial Services team.

As a successful candidate, you can work both independently and on teams, under general supervision. You take pride in completing your work with accuracy and thoroughness. You’re known for taking the initiative to identify and overcome basic obstacles to meet your work commitments and you identify approaches and/or solutions to resolve problems. As an Accountant, you have demonstrated the ability to collaborate with managers, leaders, peers, and internal customers to meet work commitments.

This position will be performed on a hybrid work basis, affiliated with our New York office.

Other responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile (monthly and/or quarterly) various balance sheets and expense accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements and quarterly bank compliance ratios.
  • Prepare accrual to cash journal entries and quarterly cash basis income estimates.
  • Prepare and record intangible amortizations.
  • Maintain Prepaid Insurance schedules.
  • Book employee FSA/Dependent Care entries and records wires.
  • Quarterly analysis of fixed asset spending.
  • Conducts ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed (e.g. for Director, CFO, etc.).
  • Adaptive Insights budget entries.
  • Comply with established Company and legal requirements.
  • Answer various government census reports.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or other quantitative and analytical related academic discipline.,
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant external experience.
  • Relevant experience in an accounting and/or financial administration-oriented roles requiring the ability to research, analyze and summarize financial information.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred; experience with Adaptive Insights, Microsoft D365 and Power BI Reporting is a plus.
  • Effective communicator (verbal/written), active listener, effective interpersonal skills; relationship builder, ability to work well in teams and independently; client service oriented; demonstrated initiative; effective time management skills and ability to juggle and meet multiple deadlines.

The current salary range for this position is $60,000 to $84,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
