Accounting Assistant - Brooke Point High School

GENERAL PURPOSE

Reporting to the School or Department Administrator, the Accounting Assistant will assist with the preparation and maintenance of fiscal records and related documents.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Accounts

  • Verify time and leave reports submitted and make corrections as needed.
  • Assist with the management of School Activity Fund accounts and the Department Operating Budget.
  • Serve as school/department's financial expert and coordinate procurement and payment procedures.
  • Review, post, and generate computer receipts for deposits from fund sponsors and reconcile to Summary of Daily Deposit Sheets.
  • Prepare, process and maintain accurate employee payroll records monthly.
  • Create Reports
  • Prepare Monthly Payroll Reports as needed.
  • Prepare and reconcile year/fiscal end reports.
  • Support and demonstrate core values of SCPS
  • Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to position.
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for information.
  • Maintain a clean, neat appearance, appropriate to position.
  • Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
  • Serve as an optimal role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
  • Work in close harmony with colleagues, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Comply with all District and School policies and regulations, including but not limited to guidelines for confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of job related experience required.
  • Fluency with MS Office products (Word and Excel) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, and Drive), or ability to quickly acquire such fluency, required.
  • Training or professional experience related to accounting duties preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge o Knowledge of standard accounting principles and bookkeeping terminology and methods o Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment o Knowledge of one or more computer applications related to accounting
  • Skills o Operation of a variety of office and computer equipment. o Operation of a variety of information and tracking systems. o Use of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint o Use of Google Drive, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms o Meticulous attention to detail
  • Abilities o Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. o Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. o Work cooperatively and positively with staff. o Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. o Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. o Demonstrate initiative and flexibility. o Follow detailed procedures and perform mathematical computations with accuracy. o Prepare and maintain electronically generated spreadsheets. o Work on multiple projects while meeting all deadlines. o Show sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is inside an office, with moderate noise, temperatures typical to the office environment, and no exposure
  • The work is light work, requiring the occasional exertion of 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
  • The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: o Standing for prolonged periods o Sitting for prolonged periods o Repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, or fingers o Ability to feel, grasp, or hold objects by hand o Discernment of colors visually o Discernment of letters or numbers

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $35,000.00 per year
