The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applicants for an Administrative Assistant or Intermediate Administrative Assistant to perform clerical and administrative work. Administrative Assistants perform work of a clerical nature, providing office support under direct supervision. Work is typically repetitive and follows consistent practice and established procedures. Administrative Assistants consult with supervisors for most decisions outside of standard operating procedures. The successful candidate will join a department that employs outstanding people and is progressive in its initiatives to develop and support its staff, making it a great place to work. This position will join a supportive, learning-oriented team. This position is eligible for a hybrid, flexible schedule combining remote work with in-person responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Type memos, correspondence, forms, and technical or confidential reports.
Receive and screen incoming calls and mail, answer routine inquiries, and route calls to the appropriate individual.
Maintain calendars. Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
Review and answer standard correspondence.
Greet and screen visitors and provide customer support, as needed.
Provide division-level support to various areas within the department, as needed.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Minimum Requirements for Administrative Assistant
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: None
Minimum Requirements for Intermediate Administrative Assistant
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range: $37,000 to $41,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
