Job Summary
The Office of Professional & Career Development in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University seeks an Administrative Support Specialist. This position provides varied and high level administrative and technical support.

Essential Functions
Essential functions of this position include:
  • Provides administrative support for the management team in the OPCD, including the Executive Director for Career and Employer Initiatives.
  • Advises management and staff on processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Manages a large professional office suite, including managing a large team of student workers, greeting employers and visitors, managing utilization of office resources and spaces, and assisting with events held in the OPCD suite.
  • Participates in planning and coordinating events such as employer events, career fairs, and co-curricular programming.
  • Performs a variety of course scheduling and student registration tasks related to courses offered by the OPCD.
  • Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties such as processing purchases and reimbursements, managing human resources, processing payroll documentation, managing documentation for completeness and accuracy, verifying compliance with policy and procedures and resolving related issues, managing and compiling data for managerial decision-making, using and leveraging various university and career software systems, acting as point of contact for vendors and outside agencies, etc.
  • Acts a liaison with other departments, employers, students, alumni, and guests on behalf of the Executive Director of the OPCD.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years experience in administrative support services.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office platform, particularly Excel.
  • Adept at learning and using organizational software platforms.
