Job Description

 

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Design Project Engineer III to be based in AECOM's Columbus, Ohio office.

At AECOM, we’re delivering a better world. This role will provide the opportunity to directly support transformational projects including the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project. This project is one of the largest highway infrastructure projects in the country and entails design and construction of existing bridge improvements and a new bridge crossing of the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington Kentucky, along with 8 miles of significant highway improvements. Design has begun and will extend over the coming years, providing a unique opportunity for multiple career-defining roles on the project. The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.

  • Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.

  • Use current engineering design software.

  • Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.

  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identify discrepancies in results.

  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications

 Minimum Requirements:

  • BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Must possess a current Ohio PE or attain PE within first year of employment by AECOM

  • Ability to pass MVR check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE licensure.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated regional, local or state bridge design project work.
  • MS in Structural Engineering with emphasis of Bridge Design course work highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software such as OpenRoads and OpenBridge (highly preferred). Also, Civil3D, Microstation, LEAP Bridge Concrete, MDX, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOWare etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, develop technical reports and document client communications.

  • Offered rate of compensation for Columbus Ohio (Ohio statewide) will be based on the individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $105,000.00 - $130,000.00
