Construction Materials Testing - Co-op Opportunity

Overview:  

 

Geotechnology, LLC, a Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) Company, has an opening in our Construction Services Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.


Construction Materials Testing Co-ops, during summer and fall 2025 semesters, perform or assist in performing routine field tests and observations.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs field quality control tests on plastic concrete
  • Performs field density testing on soil, asphalt, and aggregate
  • Extracts field samples in borrow pits
  • Assists with drilling and sampling operations with hand-operated drilling equipment
  • May perform routine laboratory tests on soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials
  • Limited decision making
  • Prepares written electronic daily field observation reports and summary reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conducts all work in a manner that demonstrates that safety is a core value
  • Follows Geotechnology's safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conducts periodic job site safety observations
  • Participates in group safety meetings and job site tailgate safety meetings
  • Completes assigned safety training


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be currently enrolled at a university and pursuing an engineering degree
  • Zero to one-year prior experience
  • Ability to receive ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification and Nuclear density safety training
  • Ability to complete 10-hour OSHA Construction and defensive driver training before May 2025
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform routine field tests
  • Proficient with a basic cell phone and computer usage for daily report entry
  • Dependable
  • Ability to verbally communicate and write in a clear, concise, legible manner
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include nights and weekends
