Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Junior -Level Civil Engineer to join our New England Transportation business line.  The ideal candidate will be part of the New England Rail Systems Group located in Rocky Hill, CT. Candidate will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks including, but not limited conceptual engineering, design, final engineering, constructability and cost estimating. 

The ideal candidate will bring their experience and interest in working on transit including, but not limited to CTDOT, Metro-North, MBTA, and Amtrak, or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies along with working knowledge of applicable AREMA, IEEE, NESC and other industry standards.

Duties will include:

  • Collaborating with team on various engineering projects.
  • Perform engineering design and calculations.
  • Perform design of overhead catenary systems, track and other systems on a railroad.
  • Reviews track designs prepared by others.
  • Develops estimates for the OCS and track engineering budgets.
  • Assists in determining schedules to perform work. 
  • Coordinates with multiple departments related to a projects scope of work.
  • Develop procurement specifications. 
  • Perform field inspections.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT Certification
  • Interest and experience in designing transit and transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience with design software including MicroStation, Inroads and/or OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit requirements.
  • Familiar with MS Office is required.
  • Able to work out of the Rocky Hill, CT office.
