Electrical Instrumentation Engineer

I&C Engineer –(Charleston, TN) Will Consider Candidates currently on H1-B Visa

We’re currently seeking an I&C Engineer for our Central Infrastructure team at our Charleston, TN site.

What You'll Do: As an EI&C Engineer in Central Infrastructure, you will perform a wide range of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering tasks to maintain and enhance the performance of utility and process units at our Charleston Chemical Plant. Your role is vital to ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximizing unit availability and efficiency. You’ll provide engineering support to operations, design new equipment and control loops, and participate in commissioning new and modified production units. Expertise in field instrumentation, control systems, and fire alarm systems is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (E&IC) Manager in maintaining safe and compliant operations.
  • Participate in commissioning activities for new or modified production units.
  • Design and implement new equipment and control loops.
  • Assist the maintenance team with ITPM and MRO activities.
  • Troubleshoot system and process issues, collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
  • Become a subject matter expert in assigned process areas, exercising E&IC engineering judgment.

Secondary Role Functions:

  • Serve as a deputy for power supply tasks (480V and higher equipment).
  • Specialize in Fire Alarm and Protection Systems (hardware and programming).

What We Need From You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Controls Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in I&C plant engineering, maintenance, or project engineering (candidates with less experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls, including relevant standards and regulations.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 480V equipment, motors, and motor control centers (MCCs).
  • Preferred experience with Emerson Delta VSAP EAMFunctional Safety, and Comos.
  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems (hardware and programming) is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure with scheduling and cost constraints.
