Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly qualified Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer to join our team of professionals in the El Paso, TX office.

As a drainage engineer, you will be responsible for leading the drainage design of complex surface transportation projects for a diverse clientele in both public and private sectors. Your expertise will be crucial in implementing cutting-edge design projects that utilize advanced technologies to deliver superior design services to our clients.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing comprehensive roadway drainage design with precision and adherence to industry standards

  • Conducting thorough bridge and culvert hydraulic analyses to ensure structural integrity and safety

  • Performing detailed scour analysis to mitigate potential risks to infrastructure

  • Developing and implementing effective erosion and sedimentation control measures

  • Overseeing the production of high-quality plans and development of accurate bid sets

  • Facilitating seamless coordination with other engineering disciplines to ensure project cohesion

  • Navigating complex regulatory processes to secure necessary permits from relevant agencies

  • Maintaining professional communication and coordination with clients and sub-consultants throughout project lifecycles

  • Demonstrating proficient project management skills across all phases, from conception to close-out, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery

This position demands a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in engineering practices.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience

  • PE License required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and/or Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)

  • Texas PE license

  • Good communication skills and ability to manage a team

  • Experience with managing people at various experience levels and ability to mentor with their career development

  • Experience designing highway/roadway drainage systems

  • Experience with SWMM, HY-8, and HEC Programs

  • Experience with design software including GeoPak Drainage and OpenRoads (preferred)

  • Experience on multidisciplinary projects with subconsultants

  • Experience with H&H reports

  • Experience with SUDA

  • Experience in preparing CLOMR/LOMR and Coordination with Local Flood Plain Administrators/Agencies

  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project)

  • TxDOT Pre-certifications (Schematic Development, Roadway Design, Hydrologic Studies, Roadway Hydraulic Design, Bridge Hydraulic Design, Storm Water Pump Station-Hydraulic Design, Bridge Scour Evaluation and Analysis, Coastal Hydraulic Design, Riverine Hydraulic Design, and FEMA Regulations and Permits)
