Clearance Level: Active DoD - Secret

SUMMARY

A Windows System Administrator will operate, manage, and maintain all information systems to ensure the reliability, resilience and accessibility of the systems and its data. In this role, you will be responsible for installing or upgrading Windows-based systems and servers, managing user access to the servers, and maintaining the security and stability of the network. Windows Systems Administrators act as the Tier 3 escalation point for all Windows related tickets. As such you will be expected to troubleshoot and reach resolution on all complex user and server related issues within the enterprise while maintaining customer service and communication standards.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Conduct the day-to-day Operations and Maintenance for Windows Information Systems.

·         Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers.

·         Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.

·         Troubleshooting system and server errors.

·         Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors.

·         Monitoring and updating the Windows codebase.

·         Managing user access.

·         Monitoring system performance.

·         Maintaining server architecture security and creating system backups.

·         Ensure strict compliance with all regulating bodies to include contractual obligations and all Policies, Procedures and Standards as applicable.

·         Ensure all tickets and tasks within the ServiceNow platform are assigned, updated, and completed to standards.

·         Document all technical operations and tasks within the Knowledge Base.

·         Work alongside other departments to achieve operational and project related tasking.

·         Provide solution to any complex IT related challenges within the organization.

·         Participate as a member of the Enterprise Problem Management team.

·         Conduct repairs and maintenance of all Information Systems within the enterprise.

·         Engineer, and Implement improvements to existing infrastructure.

·         Ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of all Information Systems.

·         Engineer and design solutions to address technical gaps within the Enterprise.

·         Regularly identify and report on the status of systems, tasks, and milestones to team leadership.

·         Other functions as directed by the Team Lead and IT Project Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS


Required Certifications

·         DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification, IASE I, II or III


Education, Background, and Years of Experience

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent relevant experience.

·         5-7 years of Windows administration experience.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


Required Skills

·         Windows Server 2016, 2019, Windows 10 Enterprise

·         Fundamental understanding of Networking

·         Experience with embedded support in a lab environment

·         Active Directory domain administration (Administer the domain, DC, Group Policy – including GPO troubleshooting at the desktop level)

·         Server administration (specifically on a stand-alone, non-Internet-connected network – troubleshoot and remediate issues)

·         Tier II/III helpdesk (position will interact with lab users – administer Labnet clients – including some old systems e.g. Win7)

·         Security STIG/Evaluate-STIG (performing and remediating findings based on Evaluate-STIG and manual STIG checklists)

·         PowerShell scripting/experience (Writing scripts for Evaluate-STIG answer files to automate STIG checklists)

·         Self-starter (There won’t necessarily be a lot of hands-on management – candidate will need to be able to take directives and run with them – clarify when necessary)

·         People skills (This position will be the ‘face’ of the G6 in terms of Labnet – work directly with end users to facilitate and troubleshoot user issues)

·         NetApp experience a plus (fileshare of LabNet)

·         VMware experience a plus, but not required (may have some administrative tasks for Labnet on the cluster)


Preferred Skills

·         Nutanix, Hyper-V, VMWare Virtualization Experience

·         Bash/Python/Perl Scripting

·         PowerShell

·         Automation using DSC, Ansible, Puppet


WORKING CONDITIONS


Environmental Conditions

·         Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.


Strength Demands

·         Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles.  Some occasional walking or standing may be required.   Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
