This includes data mining, data auditing, aggregation, validation, and reconciliation. Build basic reports for management as well as conducts basic hypothesis tests (contextualize basic levels of complexity). Utilizes analytics and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, Tableau, SAS, SPSS, and others to perform analysis and interpret data.Job DescriptionNOTE: This is a Hybrid position reporting to Columbus, OH Location. We also do not provide any sponsorship for this position.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Assists with the development of basic analytical tools to solve high-value business problems across AEP.• Utilize analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable business intelligence.• Build business knowledge across the organization and utilize knowledge to assist in the development of meaningful analyses. Help identify, acquire, and provide management of data needed for various analytic studies.• Assist in the development of components of predictive and prescriptive systems to optimize operations and support strategic initiatives.• Apply data visualization tools to large data sets to enhance data understanding.• Acquire knowledge of business processes and data acquisition practices from business units using disparate systems.• Collaborate with technology partners to develop data acquisition and data management practices. Help develop concise meaningful written reports and provide oral presentation of information, reporting dashboards that meet business needs for status, trends, and variances.• Collaborate with technology and business units to operationalize meaningful reports and dashboards.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education:Bachelor's degree in mathematics, operations research, statistics, economics, data science, computer science or related technical field is required.Experience:No additional experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:• 3 years' experience applying quantitative, computational skills, and business analytics, which can be reduced with advanced degrees.• 2 years' experience interpreting business stakeholder's analytics needs.• Master's degree in, operations research, applied statistics, data mining, data science or a related quantitative discipline• Proficient in R Shiny application development, Docker image containerization, and OpenShift deployment• Demonstrated understanding of financial math, especially the interest rate theory.REQUIREMENTS - OTHER:These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.• Proficiency with analytic software packages such as R, RShiny, SAS• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.• Ability to apply strong analytical and complex problem solving and critical thinking skills• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Strong teamwork skills, with a self-starter mentality and ability to work independently• Meticulous attention to details• Hybrid work mode (currently 3 days in office)Salary Range:Data Scientist Assc(Grade 6)- $70,961- $88,700Compensation DataCompensation Grade:SP20-006Compensation Range:$70,961.00-88,700.50 USDHear about it first!
