Within the program, analysts can expect to develop job skills, receive mentoring opportunities, and be coached by some of the industry’s best leaders within the investment teams.

Introduction to Evergreen Funds
An Evergreen fund structure has an indefinite fund life, fundraising period, and investment period. Evergreen Funds allow for monthly subscriptions into the fund structure with limited redemptions. These Funds are considered more ‘permanent capital’ style investment vehicles, whereas closed-end fund structures have a finite partnership life. Evergreen funds were created to fill the need of the retail investor who typically has a challenging time gaining access to the private markets.

The Opportunity
The Evergreen Portfolio Management Team identifies and oversees the allocation of investments into our open-ended private market portfolios. Evergreen Portfolio Management team members conduct analysis for the Evergreen Portfolio Committee, managing core risk oversight functions and building portfolios of private equity deals to fit the evergreen mandate. Team members are exposed to the world’s best private equity managers and work alongside our leading institutional and retail investors on a global scale.

A first year Evergreen Portfolio Analyst will begin to develop the skills needed to assess potential investment opportunities and assist in fund management. Analysts will learn how to make data driven decisions around portfolio construction incorporating different asset classes in the private markets including Direct Equity, Direct Credit, and Secondary Investments. They will also work alongside client support teams on prospect and client inquiries, presentations, and portfolio development updates.

Second year Evergreen Portfolio Analysts will continue to build on the skills attained in their first year however, as investment acumen develops, they will assume greater ownership of initial investment recommendations for evergreen portfolios and participate in deal team discussions. They will oversee and review the training of first year analysts. They will take more ownership over their own work products and review the work of more junior analysts. In addition, they will work on special projects and other company initiatives, including development of portfolio construction tools.

In the third year, Evergreen Portfolio Analysts will have developed their competencies, professionalism and investment acumen to the point where they can take on a more senior role across internal teams and projects that directly impact evergreen portfolio performance. Third year analysts will participate and prepare materials for both client and prospect discussions. They will have the opportunity to lead cross-team analysis and projects. In addition, they will contribute to the hiring, training and mentoring of junior analysts.

Strong-performing analysts are considered for longer-term careers at Hamilton Lane, with potential for Associate promotions during or after their third year.
