Position Summary

The Financial Analyst 2 - 4, Corporate Finance & Long-Range Planning helps support the 25-year financial planning efforts and assists in the creation of reporting and dashboards that help the organization’s financial decision-making efforts. This includes helping to performing analysis, organize meetings, and assistance in creating schedules or proformas to support the corporate finance analytics initiatives. This position will also support the scoping and implementation of new technology and investment to improve the Company’s propriety cash flow model. Additionally, support of the Financing Forecasting department as needed, is also a critical portion of this role. This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Corporate Finance & Long-Range Planning.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supports the long-term financial plan up to 25 years, and assists in the creation of long-term financial forecast efforts that are provided to external stakeholders.
  • Learns the detailed Cash Flow model and draft procedures around recurring processes.
  • Supports the production of the annual Budget Book that is published 60 days after Board approval of the fiscal year budget.
  • Supports the creation of Gas Business Unit financials on a quarterly basis.
  • Collaborates with other areas to understand business modeling requirements and financial analysis needed to support key corporate strategic initiatives, including asset valuation.
  • Provides analytical support of the monthly financial forecast as needed.
  • Supports the analytics around assessing the LE process: analyze trends and predictive forecasts to provide more accuracy on revenue/sales, financial metrics including,
  • Create and maintain procedures and internal control documents and risk registers.
  • Organize FP&A server to facilitate document and data retrieval.
  • Supports where needed, providing information, reporting on rate requests, budget development to CoSA and City Council, where needed.
  • Performs other duties and serves on special project teams as assigned.

Minimum Skills

Personal Computer Usage

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Possess a valid driver’s license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
Accountant/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Ability to make independent decisions and often makes recommendations which affect the section, department and/or division
Ability to work concurrently with multiple deadlines and deliverables; great attention to detail; results oriented.
Ability to work at any location at any time with extensive time in the field working with business areas
Knowledge of accounting/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing financial and operational solutions.
Relative experiences in financial/project management for Operational Units.
Ability to identify alternative solutions for development of decision-making proposals, which support organizational goals/objectives and budget constraints.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task various critical work assignments proactively and independently in a fast paced environment and in a professional manner.
Exceptionally strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
Experience working with moderately complex data.
Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or pursuit of MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
  • CFA or pursuit of (Chartered Financial Analyst), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), FP&A certification or comparable professional designation.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning solutions (e.g., SAP, BPC, PeopleSoft, or Hyperion).
  • Experience with the electric or gas utility industry gained through experience at an electric / gas utility, consulting agency, or other professional service provider serving the industry.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation, data mining, general data analytics.
  • Experience with Data Visualization software and techniques (e.g., Tableau).

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Auditing or related field from an accredited university.

Required Certifications

Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel between business related events. Work hours may be extended.
