Summary The Channel Manager is a key role within the Global Marketing organization and will manage the professional markets for a diverse product portfolio that includes electronics tools such as Professional Soldering, Automated Soldering, Consumer Soldering, Precision Tools and Electric Screwdriving. This role will be responsible for growing these products within the North America professional channels of distribution. This role will interface externally with customers, channel partners, vendor/suppliers, research firms and consultants. Internal customers will include US/Canada/Mexico sales organizations, Weller Global Product Management and Weller Global Marketing communication. Reporting to the Director, Channel Marketing for the Weller brand, the successful candidate will work in collaboration with a domestic & international team in a matrixed Strategic Business Unit (SBU) structure. This role is based in Apex, NC. Approximately 25-35% travel to domestic and international... locations (Apex development sites as well as customer visits). Key Responsibilities Identify regional product needs/gaps to maximize segment performance and increase market share Recommend new product opportunities based upon customer input. Collect VOC (Voice of the Customer).Interpret and communicate the VOC to the appropriate product development teams Define channel specific launch requirements to ensure successful new product introductions within the assigned areas of responsibility. Work with the product management team to determine the proper product offerings, prioritization and timing of new products designed to meet the needs of the North American professional market. Work with sales to provide forecasting by channel and customer for new and existing products. Leads efforts to expand our current and new product offerings to new customers and markets Provide market sizing and growth estimates based on industry data, market segmentation and customer analyses Establish relationships with key decision makers at our customers and channel partners to help establish new business growth initiatives Channel partner development Assess and develop proper go to market programs by channel and customer where necessary Help identify channel partners for the business to expand market coverage. Work closely with the regional sales team to ensure achievement of sales growth and profitability goals with channel partners. Develop and maintain good working relationships with channel partners. Communicate value proposition, company vision, product and service capabilities to channel partner targets. Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with our sales partners Develop, implement and continuously improve the positioning of the product portfolios within the defined regional footprint, optimizing the return to the company Develop and recommend regional annual and long-range marketing plans, supporting forecasts and budgets to provide reasonable and accurate input for planning and goal setting processes Support the development and implementation of sales training/product material with the Global Marketing team Development/enhancement of value propositions per market segment and presentation material for general use and for project-specific applications Ongoing competitor analysis including pricing strategies and ensure our products are priced to the respective markets/regions appropriately.Then, develop material to aid the sales team in the pursuit of differentiating our products and promoting our key value items Assist developing (in cooperation with marketing communications) and coordinating sales literature and catalogues for regional (global on occasion) needs in printed and digital media Facilitate sales promotions and advertising in support of the sales team, channel, and customer needs Facilitate product demonstrations in both a sales and technical function Use targets set by Marketing/Finance to administrate the pricing function as a competitive advantage Work collaboratively with the sales org to define customer development plans Critical Skills and Qualifications Experience in researching market size, competition, segmentation, and customer requirements in a major corporate environment Broad experience with, channel identification and development Deep understanding of go to market strategies, promotional requirements, pricing structure, and customer base for professional / industrial distribution Experience in managing and growing the professional channels of distribution in North America. Conceptual, strategic, but able to probe into specifics when necessary. Analytic and fact based most of the time, but able to draw on intuition Ability to analyze and interpret financial data Experience coordinating and communicating on an international level Training and Education B.S. in Business or Business/Marketing/Engineering or equivalent practical experience required 5 years' experience in Industrial Channel Marketing 5
